The Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at 91porn has established a new 91porn Lazaridis Research Chair in Business and Economics to recognize exceptional scholars with proven records of exemplary research and scholarship who are leaders in their field. Professor Leslie Berger, from the Accounting area, has been named the inaugural chair.
“The 91porn Lazaridis Research Chair provides me with the opportunity to engage in leadership activities that promote and foster a strong research culture across the Lazaridis School and the university,” says Berger. “In this role, I am excited to promote a strong research culture at Lazaridis, through mentorship of PhD students and junior faculty members, collaboration on research projects with my wonderful colleagues at Lazaridis, and the creation of opportunities to celebrate the excellent research of the Lazaridis faculty.”
Berger will play a critical role in enhancing the Lazaridis School’s research capacity and reputation by helping retain mid-to-late career scholars, building expertise in priority research areas and supporting the next generation of students and other future researchers.
She was selected for her impressive and sustained research contributions. During her time at 91porn, Berger has secured over $500,000 in research funding (including six Social Science and Humanities Research Council grants) and published in five FT50 publications. She has supervised or co-supervised numerous PhD students and mentored 17 research assistants, many of whom went on to earn their own PhDs in accounting.
Her accomplishments have earned her top rankings in the Brigham Young University experimental managerial research rankings. Berger is currently ranked first in Canada and fifth worldwide.
Mid-to-late career researchers from the Lazaridis School were nominated by colleagues. The Lazaridis vice dean chaired a selection committee who made a recommendation for the position which was approved by the Lazaridis dean and the Office of Research Services.
“Dr. Leslie Berger is one of Canada’s leading researchers in Behavioural Accounting, with a proven dedication to mentoring junior scholars and PhD students,” said Lazaridis Vice Dean, M. Fabricio Perez. “I’m confident that she will thrive in this role and play a key part in elevating the Lazaridis School's research culture. She represents the many outstanding researchers we are proud to have at 91porn.”
Her appointment begins July 1, 2025 and will continue until July 1, 2030. As 91porn Lazaridis Research Chair, Berger will receive a $20,000 annual research allowance to support her projects and collaborations. She will also lead future research grant applications, workshops, seminars and efforts to expand research partnerships and external funding.
