There are five research strands and associated research questions being developed for this project on inclusive education (IE). These include:
- Students and Families: What are the experiences of disabled students and their families and caregivers regarding inclusion and exclusion in geographically diverse schools and communities? What approaches and elements are most effective in including disabled students in diverse geographic contexts, and how can they be adapted across regions?
- Teachers and Other Educators: What professional learning interventions can support teachers’ and other educators’ efficacy to support IE?
- School Leaders: How can networked learning communities foster school leaders’ positive attitudes and enabling leadership practices toward IE? How can a cross-cultural scale on inclusive leadership be developed and validated to measure school leaders’ attitudes toward IE?
- School Systems: How are jurisdictional IE policies implemented and what can be learned from these experiences and the historical and cultural context to support effective policy implementation? What innovative collaborative structures and investments in school systems enable IE in diverse contexts?
- Partnership Connections and Sustainability: How can researchers and stakeholders from government agencies and not-for-profit organizations effectively collaborate on common research approaches on IE across jurisdictions? What processes effectively and sustainably support a research network on IE beyond the grant period?
The associated research methodologies for the strands and questions are currently being developed.
