The overall research question of the project is: How can Canadian and global researchers collaborate to identify, evaluate, and mobilize effective drivers of inclusive education for students with disabilities to accelerate progress towards achieving SDG4 by 2030?

To address this question, the research objectives of the project are:

  1. Investigate drivers, enablers, and barriers of inclusive education using the same research methodologies across strategically-identified countries.
  2. Establish a network of researchers and key stakeholders from government agencies and not-for-profit organizations to engage in and mobilize research on inclusive education.
  3. Explore and utilize avenues for the broader mobilization of research outcomes to maximize impact in other countries and contexts.

The iPRIE involves faculty members from 17 Canadian universities connected through the , a partnering organization. We leverage existing strong research connections with team members from 14 countries, 30 universities, and ten not-for-profit and/or public sector organizations in the African contexts of Ghana, Tanzania, Mauritius, South Africa, Cameroon, and Namibia, and in the Caribbean contexts of St Lucia, Jamaica, Haiti, Barbados, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Countries were chosen based on existing partnerships and their diverse range of contexts, including English and French-speaking, representing geopolitical diversity and offering opportunities to use research findings for broader contexts.
