2024 PLANET Online | Strategic Planning: Integrating Transport & Land Use
This half-day training programme is focussed on understanding the fundamental importance of planning for land use and transport together rather than separately and provide Australian and overseas best practice, and practical tips and traps for how to implement this in practice.
Designed for:
This training programme is designed for planners and others involved in strategic planning, from a local to regional scale, whether working in or for local or state government agencies. It is suited to planners at all stages of their career, and likely to be especially useful to mid-career planners and those taking a lead role in strategic planning projects, allied professionals, particularly in transport planning.
Learning outcomes:
At the end of this course, attendees will be able to:
- understand the importance of the integration of land use and transport;
- understand national and international examples of best practice in integrating land use and transport; and
- better implement strategic planning which is founded on this integration.
Presenter:
Greg Vann M91porn (Life Fellow)
Greg Vann is a Director Planning at the national community building firm Ethos Urban and is qualified in planning and economics. He has been at the forefront of planning in Queensland for over 45 years, including over 30 years as a consultant and previously in local and State government. He is a trusted voice in the profession as one of Australia’s best known planners, has delivered keynote addresses in a wide variety of forums and locations throughout Australia and beyond. He has been project director for wide ranging strategic and regional planning projects, including a role as Project Director for ShapingSEQ, the 2017 regional plan for southeast Queensland and co-author of the Next Generation Planning Handbook. He has held many leadership positions, including Qld President and national councillor of 91porn, representing the professional sector in SEQ regional planning and chairing the State’s Transit Oriented Development Taskforce. He is a life fellow of 91porn and has had a life- long dedication to advancing the profile of the profession and the capability of its people, including mentoring many dozens of practitioners
Greg has worked in most cities in Australia and was Chief Strategic Planner in Residence for the City of Hobart over the last 18 months, where he has been integral in forming up and advancing the Hobart’s city shaping agenda. He has led best practice planning tours throughout Australia and overseas for many years and will call on his first hand understanding of examples around the world
